The full name of COP is Conference of the Parties, which is the Conference of the Parties. It is the largest climate conference under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). It has been held annually since 1995 to assess progress in combating climate change.

This event is held in conjunction with World Earth Day on April 22. The theme of this year’s Earth Day is “Plastic Reduction”. We hope to use this event to invite partners from various fields to create science-based climate action. We are very honored to join forces with 8 counties in central China. The city’s regional governance climate actions look forward to public-private collaboration to implement the net-zero transition.

Zhang Dachun, deputy secretary-general of the Taichung City Government, said that in recent years, eight counties and cities in Central Taiwan have transformed from traditional energy hubs to key renewable energy development areas, jointly building a low-carbon industrial ecosystem in central cities, and look forward to the opportunity of cooperation and jointly organizing the expo. , expand the green living circle for people in Central Taiwan, and create a low-carbon industry value chain ecosystem in central cities to respond to the new international trade mechanism and meet the market opportunities of global low-carbon industry chain transformation.

Taiwan announced its 2050 net-zero emissions target on Earth Day, April 22, 2021. Three years later, the trajectory of Taiwan’s net-zero action has linked up the governance capabilities of central ministries and commissions, established an overall cross-sector social collaboration structure, and further moved towards the milestone of local net-zero. The theme of this year’s World Earth Day is “One More Plastic is Better than One Less Plastic”, which aligns with the United Nations’ Global Plastics Convention, which will be finalized at the end of 2024 and agrees to reduce plastics by 60% by 2040 and to regulate the production and sales of petrochemical plastic products. Develop clear regulations for various aspects such as recycling and recycling that can be gradually legalized.
