Vice President Lai Ching-te attended the “2024 Touch Taiwan Series Exhibition Opening and Awards Ceremony” this morning (20th), affirming that Taiwan’s display industry will rank second in the world in terms of shipments and output value in 2023; in the future, the new government will continue to listen to the industry’s valuable Opinions, and cooperation with everyone, let the display industry continue to innovate, progress and develop.

In his speech, Lai Qingde said that he was very honored to be invited to attend the “2024 Touch Taiwan Series Exhibition Opening and Awards Ceremony” today. First, on behalf of the government, he warmly welcomed a total of 312 manufacturers from more than 10 countries to participate in the event. He also wished this year’s event a complete success. The results have been fruitful and every industry has made great progress and development.

Lai Ching-te mentioned that when he was the Executive Yuan, he discussed the development direction of the display industry with industry players at AU Optronics’ Zhongke Factory. Later, he proposed the first phase of the “Taiwan Display Technology Application Action Plan”, investing a total of 17.7 billion yuan in five years. , a total of more than 216 key patents. Through everyone’s efforts, Taiwan’s display industry has achieved very fruitful results.

Lai Qingde believes that the display industry and the semiconductor industry have always been two important engines supporting Taiwan’s economic development. In particular, the display industry will rank second in the world in terms of shipment volume in 2023, with an output value of NT$1.12 trillion, also ranking second in the world. In addition, Taiwan has also manufactured the world’s first and most advanced Micro LED production line, which is not easy.

Lai Qingde said that just now, Ko Furen, chairman of the Taiwan Display Industry Federation, mentioned that “smart display is the last mile of future life,” which means that “display technology” is indeed an important force in achieving a “smart country.” In the future, the new government will continue to listen to the valuable opinions of the industry and work with everyone to allow the display industry to continue to innovate, progress and develop.

Later, Lai Qingde presented the “2024 Display Component Product Technology Award” and “Smart Display Application Award” trophies to the winning company representatives, and joined the distinguished guests at the opening ribbon-cutting ceremony of “2024 Touch Taiwan” and visited the exhibition area.
