Demand for small and medium-sized TV panels weakens, and TrendForce estimates that monitor panel growth will expand in April | TechNews Technology News

--

Research agency TrendForce announced today (22nd) panel quotations for late April. Vice President of Research Fan Boyu pointed out that the current demand momentum for TV panels below 55 inches is temporarily weakening, while demand for panels above 65 inches is supported; monitor panels are expected to continue the trend of TV panels. The rally continues to expand; notebook computer panels remain at a low point, and it is difficult for brand manufacturers and panel manufacturers to reach a price consensus.

As for TV panels, demand for TV panels began to show signs of weakness in April. The weakening demand for TV panels below 55 inches was more obvious. Only large-size TV panels above 65 inches were supported due to the demand for stocking during peak season promotions. At the same time, panel factory utilization rates are at a relatively high level, causing the rally to converge. Based on April TV panel quotations, 32-inch/43-inch/50-inch is expected to increase by US$1, 55-inch is expected to increase by US$2, and 65-inch/75-inch is expected to increase by US$4 to US$5.

Monitor panel prices surged in March, driven by TV panel quotations. Fan Boyu pointed out that in April, the demand for stocking of consumer models from some brand customers is still strong. Coupled with the Red Sea crisis, some brand customers have to increase their inventory levels to stock up in advance. At the same time, because TV panel production capacity is squeezed into monitor panels, it is expected that 4 Monthly monitor panel prices will continue to rise, and the increase is expected to expand. In terms of Open Cell panels, the mainstream sizes of 23.8-inch and 27-inch are expected to increase by US$0.7; for panel modules, 21.5-inch and 23.8-inch are expected to increase by US$0.5, and the 27-inch is expected to increase by US$0.4.

Laptop panels are still in the off-season, and demand from brand customers is weak. At present, it is not easy for panel manufacturers to form a consensus on price increases, so laptop panel prices are still at a low level. Fan Boyu expects that only TN panel models may slightly increase by US$1 due to low prices; IPS panel models will mostly remain unchanged, while 16:10 panel models will remain flat to slightly drop by US$0.2.

According to the latest quote from TrendForce in late April, the average price of 65-inch TV panels was US$176, a monthly increase of 2.9%; the average price of 55-inch TV panels was US$129, a monthly increase of 1.6%; the average price of 43-inch TV panels was US$65, a monthly increase of 1.6%; and the average price of 32-inch TV panels was US$65, a monthly increase of 1.6%. 37 US dollars, a monthly increase of 2.8%.

The average price of the 27-inch monitor panel was US$62.4, a monthly increase of 0.6%, and the average price of the 23.8-inch panel was US$48.8, a 1% increase. For laptop panels, the 17.3-inch TN panel was US$38.3, and the 15.6-inch IPS panel was US$40.4, which remained unchanged; The average price of the 14-inch TN panel was US$26.7, and that of the 11.6-inch TN panel was US$24.9, both rising by 0.4%.

The board of directors of Innolux, one of the two giants in the panel, decided last week to implement a cash capital reduction, returning about 1.2 yuan in cash per share, to increase the return on shareholders’ equity and adjust the capital structure. American foreign investors believe that Innolux’s first quarter and full-year outlook are in line with expectations, and that the capital reduction will help the stock price behavior. From a fundamental perspective, we are starting to focus on panel quotations in the third quarter, so we have a positive evaluation.
