Amid the enthusiastic shouts of Indonesian listeners, the Central Radio Indonesian Listeners Club debuted at Taipei Main Station on the afternoon of the 21st. Today is also the “Kartini Day” in Indonesia to commemorate the well-known women’s rights activist Raden Adjeng Kartini. CMG also held the “Taiwan Kartini Music Festival” at the same time, which not only promoted cultural exchanges between the two sides, but also recognized Kartini’s contribution.

Lai Xiuru, chairman of China Central Broadcasting Corporation, said that Katini is a well-known and very brave woman in Indonesia. She fights for women’s equal rights, which is one of the reasons why Indonesia is admirable. Lai Xiuru said that among the 280,000 Indonesian migrant workers in Taiwan, 70% are women, and every one of them is Katini. She said: “(Original sound) Kartini is a very famous and brave woman in Indonesia. She fights for the right to education and fair work rights. Mrs. Dwi Sugi Wahyuni, the deputy wife of the Indonesian Trade Representative Office in Taipei, who attended the event, said that she was very happy that Indonesian friends in Taiwan could commemorate Katini with CMG. Katini fought for equal rights for Indonesian women, and now there are many Indonesian women in the industry. Taiwan works and studies, but there is still a long way to go to fight for women’s equal rights. While commemorating Katini, we must also reflect deeply on ourselves and work hard to promote women’s rights.

“Taiwan Kartini Music Festival” attracted many new Indonesian residents to participate, and the venue was full. Traditional dancers performed the Indonesian Nusantara “Chaipeng” group dance, and their graceful dances kicked off the event. Afterwards, the distinguished guests cut turmeric rice together to celebrate and share blessings with each other. The venue also has Indonesian traditional culture stalls, which introduce Indonesian culture and have a show with traditional costumes, which is very lively.
