Sporty & Rich

Tell us how you got the idea to publish TheSporty & Rich Wellness Book? What is this book mainly about?

I’ve been wanting to publish a hardcover book for a while now. The Sporty & Rich brand actually started as a print magazine, so publishing a hardcover book was a natural step. I was very inspired by the old Vogue Beauty in the 80s, the pictures and content in it are still so relevant to this day, and I want to be. Since health and healing is my number one hobby, writing a book around this topic made sense for me and brought me a lot of joy to work with.

This book is a collection of chapters on skin, fitness, nutrition, mental health and beauty. All topics are of interest to me and think others will also resonate or want to know. I’ve had my own health issues and that’s what got me interested in health and healing in the first place, and I really hope someone can learn something from the book and use the knowledge from the book to improve their health in life.

What message do you want to convey through this book?

I want people to understand that health is priceless and if you don’t have a healthy body and mind, nothing else matters. It’s important to be aware of what you’re consuming: whether it’s what you’re eating, what you’re drinking, what you’re watching, who you’re following on social media, it all boils down to a simple formula: Junk in = Junk out, if you type in junk , then the output will also be garbage.

Sporty & Rich

What do you think are the core values or brand identity of Sporty & Rich?

It is an appreciation of the classics and the past; it is the ability to discover beauty and savor nature in the little things; it is a deeper understanding and feeling of physical and mental health; it is an increase in one’s overall well-being through a focus on health and healing; it is completely real Being yourself and finding your purpose; simplicity in luxury, about movement and elegance; self-understanding of what you are and not.

Where do you usually get inspiration from?

I spend a lot of time every day doing research, whether online or through old books, magazines and movies, I’m always looking for inspiration and references, reading articles, research papers and images. I am also fortunate enough to travel a lot and live a leisurely life. I think it’s crucial to stay inspired, not burn yourself out, and not develop unhealthy work habits.

I personally need to be in a happy, calm, down-to-earth, stress-free state of mind to be able to think and create as much as I can. I also recently hired an image researcher who sends me references from various quarters based on the directions I give. This is very helpful to me because as an entrepreneur, my time needs to be divided among many different areas at the same time.

Balancing the business and creative sides of things is key to staying inspired and avoiding burnout.

How big is your team now?

There are now 12 people in our team. We’ve grown super fast and I’m very fortunate to have a group of talented and hard-working colleagues. To be honest, I always feel like I owe them a lot and the business has now reached a level that I can’t handle on my own. It’s because of them that I can enjoy my life instead of working to burn out like most brand founders do. My goal has always been to enjoy my life, to work to live, not to live to work.

What does your daily day usually look like?

It depends where I am, my life in Los Angeles is very different from my life in Paris. But I like both, these two diametrically opposed lifestyles, and it makes me think maybe I can live two different lives at the same time.
When I’m in LA, I usually get up around 7, have a few hours on the phone with my team in Paris, drink bone broth, do a Pilates workout, then a lymphatic massage, have lunch with friends, and walk 2 hours or hike, cook dinner, then go to bed by 9pm.

In Paris, I usually go to boxing class at 7am and work from 9 to 6pm every night. Since I only go every few months, there is always a lot to do, and I work with the team on collections, designing apparel and accessories, discussing strategies, etc. I usually have lunch at my desk, and if I have time, I go with friends. After get off work, I would have dinner with friends and then walk back to the hotel to enjoy the beautiful city of Paris. I enjoy living in both places and won’t be giving up on either of them anytime soon.

Wellness and healing has always been a core theme for Sporty & Rich, when did you start focusing on this and decide to build your brand on it?

I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease a few years ago, and I continue to struggle with it. It was also from then on that I began to pay extra attention to health issues. I think the culture we live in right now has created a lot of treatments in the name of “quick” and “easy”, and it makes people lose sight of how important it is to make lifestyle changes and develop healthy habits.
I hope that through the message of our brand, people can be inspired and encouraged to live healthy lives and find out what health means to them. I want people to take their physical and mental health seriously before it’s too late, and my vision is to create a world where health is important and change the way people live.

Sporty & Rich

Sporty & Rich have also collaborated with many brands, how do you usually choose a co-branding partner?

I always work with brands that I really like and admire that I wear on a daily basis. If the brand is something I can’t find a connection to, it won’t make sense for my audience. Everything we do has to reflect who I am and what I like, and I think that’s the core of our brand.

Can you share with us an album of music you love or are listening to recently?

Honestly, Nevermind

To be honest, I’ve never listened to Drake that much before, but I’m obsessed with his new album, Honestly, Nevermind. I don’t usually hear singing music, but I really like the direction this album gives. My best friend and I went to Ibiza Island this summer and we’ve been listening to this album, driving around the island in the warm air of the setting sun, dancing to the song and enjoying our lives in the car. This album was arguably the perfect soundtrack to our trip, and I know I’ll always remember the joy we felt when we listened to the music.
