The New Western Land-Sea Corridor has Chongqing as its operation center and the western provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities as key nodes. It uses railways, sea transport, highways and other transportation modes to reach all parts of the world through coastal ports such as Guangxi and Yunnan.
In September 2017, the Chongqing, Guizhou and Guangxi New “Southbound Corridor” train, the predecessor of the New Western Land-Sea Corridor, departed from Chongqing Tuanjie Village Central Station, marking the realization of normalized transportation of this train. After that, the “first 10,000 trains” took 1,461 days, the “second 10,000 trains” took 487 days, and the “third 10,000 trains” took 402 days… The completion time of the “10,000 trains” of the New Western Land-Sea Corridor continued. shorten.
In the first quarter of this year, Chongqing transported a total of 50,000 TEUs through the three main transportation organizations of the New Western Land-Sea Corridor, a year-on-year increase of 39%, with a cargo value of 9.221 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 54%.
Under the cooperation of western provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities, the construction of the New Western Land-Sea Corridor has accelerated.
From the development of only one train line from Tuanjie Village Central Station in Chongqing to Qinzhou Port in Guangxi, the New Western Land-Sea Corridor has three logistics forms: rail-sea combined transport trains, international railway combined transport trains, and cross-border highway shuttle buses, covering 18 domestic cities. There are 151 stations in provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities, reaching 503 ports in 121 countries and regions, transporting goods ranging from less than 50 to more than 1,100 types.

Release new momentum for open development in the western region——
Relying on the New Western Land-Sea Corridor, Guangxi’s import and export volume to Vietnam exceeded 70 billion yuan in the first quarter of this year, a record high; Ningxia wolfberry puree and red wine, Chongqing blood oranges, Guizhou tea and other western region specialty products are becoming new growth points for local foreign trade; “Made in the West” new energy vehicles are accelerating their expansion into European and Southeast Asian markets…
Along this new channel, more factor resources will flow effectively, driving the development of more new industries.
Coal from Shaanxi and Xinjiang is transported to Chongqing and other places via the New Western Land-Sea Corridor to ensure local energy security; Qinghai soda ash is transported to Guangxi via the New Western Land-Sea Corridor to support the glass industry; Guangxi glass is transported to Sichuan and Chongqing via the New Western Land-Sea Corridor to support the automobile industry…
Driven by the new channel, “chain master” companies such as BYD have settled in Guangxi, and leading companies such as Corning Glass and Haier have transferred their production capacity to Chongqing. Up to now, there are more than 8,000 key enterprises in automobile manufacturing, electronic information, equipment manufacturing and other areas gathered around Chongqing ports and key hubs.

Create new opportunities for win-win cooperation along the Belt and Road——
Thailand’s Golden Pillow Durian can be put on the shelves of supermarkets in western cities such as Chongqing within 10 days by taking the new Western Land-Sea Corridor train. Logistics costs have been greatly reduced, and the price has dropped from nearly 100 yuan per kilogram to a minimum of about 40 yuan per kilogram.
This is not only a major logistics channel, but also an international economic corridor with surging momentum.
In Laos, the Vientiane Modern Agricultural Industrial Park project jointly built by China and Laos is accelerating.
