[The Epoch Times, April 24, 2024]China’s Guangdong Province has suffered heavy rainfall in recent days. A total of 70 rainstorm warning signals have come into effect across the province. Floods have occurred in Shaoguan, Qingyuan, Yingde and other places, with roads inundated, farmland damaged, and resulting Many casualties.

The authorities announced that as of April 23, three people had died in Zhaoqing, one person had died in Shaoguan, and 10 people were still missing in Shaoguan, Qingyuan and other places. The province has evacuated a total of 110,000 people and resettled 25,800 people in emergency. However, photos and videos from the scene showed that many roads were flooded, bridges collapsed, cars were washed away, houses were submerged in water, and residents were trapped, indicating that the disaster was extremely serious. Therefore, the outside world questioned the authenticity of the Chinese Communist Party’s official data.

On the morning of the 24th, the heavy rain stopped and the floods gradually receded. However, according to the forecast of the mainland meteorological department, the rainfall in Guangdong has not ended yet. There will still be heavy rains from the 25th to the 26th. There may also be extremely heavy rains in parts of Shaoguan City. The risk of disasters is high and the disaster prevention situation is grim.

As for why the disaster was so serious, many people suspected that it was related to flood discharge, and believed that the authorities released a large amount of flood water from the reservoir in order to protect Guangzhou downstream.

In addition, on April 23 and 24, the Yangtze River Flood Control Headquarters and the Yellow River Water Conservancy Commission respectively announced that major floods may occur in the middle and lower reaches of the main stream of the Yangtze River and the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River during this year’s flood season.
