China’s Internet Hall of Fame inductees gathered for a high-end dialogue on the 30th anniversary of China’s full-featured access to the international Internet

On April 19, the high-end dialogue on the 30th anniversary of China’s full-featured access to the international Internet, “Surge Network·Starting New”, was successfully held at the Computer Network Information Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The event aims to comprehensively demonstrate the historic achievements and changes that have taken place in China’s cyberspace industry over the past 30 years since my country’s full-featured access to the international Internet, and to look forward to future development prospects.

At the event site, all four Chinese inductees to the world’s “Internet Hall of Fame” – Hu Qiheng, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and former vice president of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Qian Hualin, researcher and former deputy director of the Computer Network Information Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Tsinghua University Professor Wu Jianping and Li Xing, deputy director of the CERNET Network Center and professor of Tsinghua University, gathered at the scene.

Academician Hu Qiheng said that China’s reform and opening up and China’s access to the international Internet were two great events that happened in the same era. “We have just caught up with this era. This is the most fortunate thing for me. The Internet appeared in the era of China’s reform and opening up, and vice versa. China’s reform and opening up appeared in the Internet era. In the process of rapid development of reform and opening up, we have the help of the Internet.”

Academician Wu Jianping said that the Internet and China’s reform and opening up are closely linked. China’s joining the Internet is only the first step in understanding the Internet. “We are very fortunate that after China joined the Internet, we gradually understood the technology of the Internet and continued to track it. From tracking to gradually in-depth conquering some core technologies, we were slowly able to lead the development of Internet technology in some aspects. I am very grateful for this process. I feel very gratified. Because in this way, we can transform from users of the international Internet to contributors to the Internet, and we can have more say in the development of the international Internet.” He said that he hopes that China will have a greater say in the future development of the international Internet. Multiple voices and autonomy will make greater contributions to the development of a community with a shared future for mankind.

Researcher Qian Hualin reviewed the history of the construction of the Zhongguancun Education and Scientific Research Demonstration Network (NCFC) project. “China’s scientific development at that time greatly needed the Internet, and reform and opening up provided China with an opportunity to prepare for access to the world’s Internet.” He said, Today’s Internet has exceeded our original imagination and has penetrated into every household. Everyone has the Internet in their pocket, which has brought great convenience to our lives.

Professor Li Xing said that although each generation has its own new problems, its concepts should be based on one world and one Internet. “In addition to the business community, there are also talents in academia who are contributing to the Internet. China should make greater contributions to the technological development and business model development of the Internet. If you contribute, you will have the right to speak. I hope that China’s young workers Enter the Internet Hall of Fame more and contribute to the development of the Internet! ”

At the event that day, Chen Yunji, deputy director of the Cyberspace Affairs Office of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Fan Xiaowei, director of the Network Communication Bureau of the Cyberspace Administration of China, Li Degang, deputy director of the Cyberspace Affairs Office of the Beijing Municipal Party Committee, and Sun Ninghui, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and researcher at the Institute of Computing Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, delivered speeches. Guo Huadong, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Yang Renquan, deputy secretary of the Haidian District Party Committee, and Zhang Chaoyang, founder of Sohu, delivered keynote speeches focusing on the historical achievements and future development of the Internet. At the event site, participating experts and leaders also unveiled the commemorative exhibition room for China’s full-featured access to the Internet.

It is reported that the event was jointly sponsored by the Computer Network Information Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Cyberspace Administration of Beijing Municipal Committee, the Cyberspace Affairs Commission of the Beijing Haidian District Committee, and the Institute of High Energy Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
