In August 2022, Ah Zhu was diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer and had a minor problem with his parathyroid glands, which required surgery. Uncle Shao stayed with Ah Zhu during the two surgeries and eight subsequent chemotherapy treatments.

“On August 13th of that year, I had breast cancer surgery. The surgery was not the most uncomfortable part. I could go to the toilet by myself after the surgery that day. I was put on a sling bottle for half a year and took chemotherapy drugs for a year. The parathyroid surgery was completed some time ago and it went very smoothly. Azhu said that Uncle Shao was very good at cooking, but she had no appetite after the operation. Uncle Shao followed the hospital’s recommendations and cooked in different ways every day.

Azhu said that she and Uncle Shao had been together for more than ten years, but she didn’t know that he could still sing. Uncle Shao explained that he was too busy with business and had not touched music for decades.
