The 23rd National Arts Awards Presentation Ceremony was held today (26th) at the Taipei Performing Arts Center Ball Theater. The four winners this year: writer Charm Man. Lan Boan, visual artist Mei Dingyan, performing artist Chen Fenggui (Xiao Mi) and documentary director Liu Song attended the award ceremony, and their close friends and award recommenders served as award presenters. President Tsai Ing-wen, Minister of Culture Shi Zhe, and more than 300 distinguished guests from the arts and cultural circles attended the meeting to share the joy and honor of the winners.

Lin Qicheng (Xiang Yang), Chairman of the National Foundation for Culture and the Arts, paid tribute to each winner on behalf of the organizer. Lin Qicheng said, “This award not only recognizes the individual achievements of artists, but more importantly, affirms their contribution to promoting culture.” “We look forward to the outstanding performance and artistic achievements of the four winners to become models for the next generation, inspiring more people to devote themselves to cultural and artistic work, and jointly cultivate the fertile soil of Taiwan to make it their own.” Taiwan’s cultural vitality can continue to be passed on.” Chairman Lin expressed his gratitude to the award presenters and relatives and friends who accompanied the award winners, and also expressed his gratitude to the 93 judges of this year.

Minister of Culture Shi Zhe expressed at the ceremony that in recent years, Taiwan has used the power of science and technology to demonstrate unprecedented visibility in the world. “On this basis, we can continue to use cultural resources to inject Taiwan’s beautiful and diverse cultural creators. That will allow culture to ride on the wings of technology and make culture an important business card for Taiwan to go global.” He also expressed special thanks to the four winners, “because of your creations, because of your efforts, and because you have continued for a long time. The above work allows Taiwan to showcase its democratic, free and multicultural charm to the world.”

President Tsai Ing-wen, who is about to leave office and attend the National Arts Award Presentation Ceremony for the last time as president, praised Charmaine in her speech. Lan Boan’s creations that combine Dawu language and Chinese grammar have created a broad vision for Taiwan’s maritime literature to connect with the world; “Little Mi” Chen Fenggui is well-deserved for the title of “Changing Spirit”, especially her efforts to bring the story of Gezi Opera to the forefront. It is admirable to pass on a lifetime of experience to art students. President Tsai also affirmed that Mei Dingyan “has always tried to expose contradictions, dismantle history, and clarify situations through his works, and has made many contributions to the connection between Taiwanese art culture and contemporary society since the lifting of martial law.” And Liu Song, as an outstanding A documentary director who always minimizes his “creative self”, does not show off his form, and focuses on the presentation of content. Finally, President Tsai also expressed that he looks forward to returning to his role as a fan of art and literature after leaving office, and working with everyone to “endless exploration” in the fields of art and culture, just like the theme of this award ceremony.

The 23rd National Arts Award Presentation Ceremony took “Endless Exploration” as the theme to pay tribute to the four winners for their pioneering and deep cultivation in their professional fields and their endless exploration and pursuit on the road of art. We hope that the energy they radiate will also draw everyone who encounters their art to connect and resonate with each other, triggering profound influence and emotion.
