Lin Zhiying, the chairman of Easy Card Company, who rode to Wuling for the fourth time, said that this was the most challenging weather condition. “I rode in the rain at low temperatures for two consecutive days. From the physical discomfort at the beginning, I adjusted my mood to acceptance. After the sunshine suddenly appeared, I started to enjoy the journey. On the last day, I saw the beautiful view of the sea of clouds at the small wind outlet of Hehuan Mountain. I felt that all the hardships were over.”
This year coincides with the end of the epidemic, and the long-awaited trip of overseas cyclists to Taiwan to cycle around the island has finally come true. Among the 40 members of the Kaohsiung Knights, 28 are from 8 overseas countries, making the team very international.
Among them, Winson, who came from Australia, is no stranger to Taiwan. He has always wanted to ride a bicycle around the island. He used to travel in big cities when he came to Taiwan. However, knowing that she likes bicycles, they still supported her in realizing her dream. This time she brought several Hello Kitty guards with her. Traveling together, there is a bicycle-shaped garment specially made by my mother, which symbolizes the traffic guard protecting her. She wears it on her body and rides it every day to feel the support and protection of her family.
Rika Miyazawa revealed that the moment of replenishing food after riding is the beautiful time she looks forward to most every day. “While taking a break at Taitung Ruiyuan Station, I tasted the local custard apple. The soft and sweet taste made me forget the fatigue of cycling.”
After completing the 9-day and 8-night round-the-island challenge, everyone changed from strangers they didn’t know to each other to family members who protected each other along the way. The moment they received the hot certificates, the hearts of the group members were also warm.
