The Philippines and its allies such as the United States and Japan have recently strengthened defense cooperation. The Philippine and American militaries opened the “Sea Warrior Cooperation” (Kamandag) exercise in Manila today.

The Philippine Marine Corps stated that from today to the 20th, the Philippine Army will conduct capability-strengthening training with the U.S. Third Marine Expeditionary Force and the First Marine Expeditionary Force, the Japanese Ground Self-Defense Force and the Korean Marines, focusing on special operations, Coastal defense, humanitarian assistance and disaster prevention, as well as chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear (chemical, biological, radioactive, nuclear) defense and other tactical training to strengthen multilateral cooperation and joint combat capabilities, the British commando team will send observers to participate.

The exercise includes expert exchanges on amphibious assault vehicles at the Zambales Naval Base, coastal defense training in Palawan, and Sangley Point in Cavite City. Naval bases hold chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear training, as well as the town of Basco in Batanes at the northern tip of the Philippines and the Paredes air station in Ilocos Norte in northern Luzon. Conduct health service support drills, etc.

The Batanes Islands are located at the northern tip of the Philippines, and the closest distance to Taiwan is only 98 kilometers. Amid the tense situation in the Taiwan Strait, this area has become an important strategic base for the Philippines.

Philippine Marine Corps Commander Arturo G. Rojas said in his speech: “By bringing together more than 2,000 personnel to participate in this year’s exercise, we are firmly determined to ensure that our military is always ready, capable and ready to face any challenge. “
