[Voice of Hope, May 26, 2023](comprehensive report by our reporter Wen Hui) The U.S. government and military recently stated that U.S.-China military dialogue is crucial to regional peace. However, the U.S. military has repeatedly requested to talk to China but has not received a response. Facing the CCP, which rejects the U.S.-China Defense Dialogue, John Aquilino, Commander of the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, recently publicly pointed out the CCP’s ambitions for the world and issued another warning.

According to a Voice of America report on May 25, in response to the CCP’s military expansion and economic coercion in the Indo-Pacific region, the U.S. government has adopted a strategy of strengthening deterrence and seeking peaceful dialogue at the same time. Prepare to happen.

Aquilino, commander of the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, said at an event of the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations (NCUSCR) on the 23rd, “The CCP is consciously mobilizing various forms of its state power to change and overthrow the current international order. “

He emphasized, “Communication is very important. We need to ensure regional peace through discussions. The establishment of normalized military communication between the United States and China is the key to responsibly controlling competition, reducing risks, and avoiding miscalculation.”

Aquilino also pointed out that the mission of the US Indo-Pacific Command is to avoid conflict, not to provoke. “The United States pursues peace, stability and prosperity. If the United States and China coexist peacefully under international norms, military conflicts are not inevitable.” He then condemned China for “trampling international norms” by militarizing the South China Sea.

In Aquilino’s public speech, there was also an episode. During the questioning session, Yin Zhongliang, head of the Military Counseling Corps of the Permanent Mission of the Chinese Communist Party to the United Nations, came out and spent 3 minutes repeatedly defending the Chinese Communist Party. And Aquilino calmly responded that he hoped that what Yin Zhongliang said could be confirmed by the facts.

Aquilino reiterated that the United States’ Taiwan policy remains unchanged and “does not seek Taiwan independence.” He advised the CCP authorities to “think twice before using force against Taiwan.” He revealed that the US President and the Secretary of Defense gave him two tasks: one is to prevent the invasion of Taiwan from happening; Get ready to fight and emerge victorious.

As early as April 18, at the hearing of the Armed Services Committee of the US House of Representatives, Aquilino said: “The CCP’s threat to Taiwan is moving in the wrong direction, and the United States is ready to respond to any emergencies.”

U.S. Secretary of Defense Austin also recently testified in Congress that the United States must face up to the strength of the CCP.

According to a Reuters report, the United States announced on the 25th that it had nominated General Charles Brown, the chief of staff of the US Air Force, as the highest military officer in the United States to serve as the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. A senior official said Biden had accepted Defense Secretary Austin’s advice and believed Brown “understands the strategic challenges America faces globally.”

The U.S. official also said, “Brown also has a deep understanding of the challenges posed by China. He has a deep understanding of the perspectives and capabilities of NATO allies.”

In addition, Lieutenant General Olivier Rittimann, president of the NATO Defense Academy, secretly visited Taiwan in March this year, which was also confirmed by military personnel. Lieutenant General Littimann arrived in Taiwan with a delegation from the Czech National Defense University at the end of March and jointly visited the National Defense University in Taoyuan.

Ivan Kanapathy, a former U.S. national security official who was stationed in Taiwan, believes that “recent interactions have highlighted the importance of Taiwan to NATO members. Since the CCP’s military invasion of Taiwan may lead to a global economic depression, deterring the CCP is also in line with all NATO interests of member states.”
