Due to continuous heavy rains in Guangdong, severe flooding occurred in Beijiang, the Pearl River Basin. At 9:00 on the 22nd, flood peaks appeared along the entire Beijiang main stream, with a peak flow of 18,100 cubic meters per second at the Shijiao Hydrological Station.

Affected by the floods, many waterlogging occurred in Hanguang Town, which is located in the lower reaches of Lianjiang River, a tributary of Beijiang River. The reporter saw in the town that rescue workers wearing red and blue clothes had been busy moving trapped people back and forth on the water to build a “water channel” for the local people.

Liu Zhendong, director of the combat training department of the Shenzhen Fire Rescue Detachment, said that after receiving the notice from superiors at 1:00 on the 20th, the detachment immediately took action and assembled a disaster relief team of 25 vehicles and 100 people to rush to Yingde for support. The Shenzhen detachment arrived in Yingde at around 5:00 on the 20th, quickly became familiar with the local conditions, and deployed rescue forces according to the severity of the water situation.
