On November 19, Chen Yuanchun, member and deputy director of the Party Leadership Group of the Standing Committee of the Chongqing Municipal People’s Congress and chairman of the Municipal Federation of Trade Unions, and his delegation came to Wushan County to investigate the work of the trade union and sent their “mother’s family” care to the county’s geological disaster early warning and monitoring personnel.

On October 9 this year, due to continuous rainfall, a large soil landslide of 8.5 million cubic meters occurred in Duiwoziping, Tonggu Town, Wushan County, causing the collapse of 42 houses. Li Zhiwei and Wang Anran discovered potential disaster risks in advance and gave timely warnings. They decisively evacuated and relocated 196 people from 103 households at risk, avoiding 143 possible disaster casualties and effectively curbing mass deaths and injuries. For their successful early warning and handling of this extremely large landslide disaster, the two people were commended in a notice from the Chongqing Municipal Government.

Chen Yuanchun said that geological disaster early warning and monitoring personnel always put the safety of people’s lives first, devote themselves to their posts silently, perform their duties to eliminate dangers, and achieve outstanding results through the combination of manpower and technology.
