Regional development is more balanced. In the first three quarters, private enterprises in the four major sectors of East, Central, West and Northeast all maintained a steady and positive development trend. The industrial structure of private enterprises is continuously optimized. In the first three quarters, as the economy and society fully returned to normal operation and various policies and measures were implemented, the number of individual industrial and commercial households across the country increased steadily, the structure continued to be optimized, and there was a clear momentum of recovery.
Quantity and quality are simultaneously improved. In the first three quarters, 17.196 million individual industrial and commercial households were newly established across the country, a year-on-year increase of 11.7%. As of the end of September 2023, the number of registered individual industrial and commercial households nationwide has reached 122 million, accounting for 67.3% of the total number of business entities. With the development and growth of individual industrial and commercial households, more than 70,000 individual industrial and commercial households across the country have successfully transformed and upgraded into enterprises since this year.
Industries related to people’s livelihood are picking up. In the first three quarters, industries with more than one million newly established individual industrial and commercial households mainly include wholesale and retail, accommodation and catering, agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery, and residential services, with 8.895 million households, 2.516 million households, 1.363 million households, and 1.341 million households respectively. The information transmission, software and information technology service industry, culture, sports and entertainment industry, scientific research and technical service industry newly established individual industrial and commercial households grew rapidly, with year-on-year growth of 68.4%, 53.1% and 41.1% respectively.
The industrial structure is constantly optimized. In the first three quarters, the proportion of the three industries newly established by individual industrial and commercial households in the country was 7.7%, 4.4% and 87.9% respectively, and the growth rates were 8.2%, 7.2% and 12.2% respectively year-on-year. The tertiary industry grew the fastest, accounting for 12.2% of the total. Compared to nearly 90%. Foreign-invested enterprises are an important force in connecting domestic and foreign markets and promoting dual economic cycles. Since the beginning of this year, as the impact of the epidemic has subsided, the confidence of foreign-invested enterprises has continued to recover, and the number of newly established foreign-invested enterprises has continued to improve.
The number of new foreign-invested enterprises has steadily picked up. In the first three quarters, a total of 46,586 new foreign-invested enterprises were established across the country, exceeding the level of the same period before the epidemic. In June and September, the number of newly established foreign-invested enterprises exceeded 6,600 in each month, showing a clear upward trend.
The faster the service industry recovers, the better. In the first three quarters, 43,193 new foreign-invested enterprises in the service industry were established nationwide, a year-on-year increase of 32.6%. Among them, newly established foreign-invested enterprises in accommodation and catering, wholesale and retail, business leasing, scientific research and technical services and other industries increased by 47%, 41.9%, 33.2% and 18.6% respectively year-on-year. 9,677 new foreign-invested enterprises in the high-tech service industry were established, a year-on-year increase of 11.7%.
The sources of foreign investment remain stable. In the first three quarters, South Korea, the United States, and Japan were still among the top sources of foreign investment for newly established foreign-invested legal entities (excluding branches). Countries with rapid year-on-year growth in the number of newly established foreign-invested enterprises mainly include Russia, Brazil, Canada, Australia and other countries. In the first three quarters, the number of newly established foreign-invested enterprises in Zhejiang, Guangdong and Fujian provinces increased by 112.5%, 41.4% and 29.3% respectively year-on-year.
