Baktu Port is one of the first-class land ports in Xinjiang among 18 countries. It is an important window for economic, trade and cultural contacts between China and Central Asia and even European countries. It has a trade history of more than 260 years and is only 12 kilometers away from Tacheng City. , with customs clearance in all seasons, is known as the “Gateway to Junggar” and the “Central Asian Trade Corridor”.
From January to September, the total import and export value of Baktu Port was 16.93 billion yuan, an increase of 56.1% compared with the same period in 2022. Among them, exports were 16.43 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 51.8%, and imports were 500 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 2432.9%; 19,535 commercial vehicles were exported, with a value of approximately 6.09 billion yuan, accounting for 31.7% of the total import and export value of the port.
Not far away, the China-Kazakhstan Border Trade Silk Road Cultural Commodity City in Baktu is a lively scene, with all kinds of imported goods filling the shelves, and many consumers purchasing goods in the commodity city. “In the first nine months, the cumulative transaction volume of the Border People’s Mutual Market reached 271 million yuan, generating more than 5.3 million yuan of local fiscal revenue, benefiting 36,000 border residents, and increasing their income by more than 4 million yuan. The Border People’s Mutual Market trading area has become a tourist check-in point, and has received a total of more than 140,000 tourists. During holidays, the highest number of tourists received in a single day was more than 10,000,” Li Cunpeng said.

Lei Bingqiao told reporters that as a processing enterprise in the mutual market between border residents, the company relied on the geographical advantages of Baktu Port to realize the “whole-in-whole-out” trading model of agricultural products traded between border residents and processing enterprises in the border area. Kazakhstan vehicles in the mutual market trading area can be directly accessed. Processing enterprises have greatly improved the speed of cross-border transactions. As of the end of September, 2.15 million yuan in taxes had been paid and 145 people had been employed.
