A few days ago, a video was circulated on the mainland Internet showing that a suspension cable of a bridge in Shijiazhuang, Hebei Province fell off, causing sparks, falling to the bridge deck, and catching fire, setting the bridge deck on fire. People were suspected of using fire extinguishers to put out the fire.
Netizens revealed that the suspension cables of the Hutuo River Bridge on Fuxing Street, which had just been opened to traffic for more than a month, broke and collapsed, and the landscape lights caught fire.
After this video attracted attention, on the 6th, the Shijiazhuang Communications Investment Group issued a notice saying that at 7:36 pm on the 5th, smoke and fire broke out in the 2# cable-stayed cables in the eastern half of the Fuxing Street Hutuo River Bridge near the main tower. The stay cable broke and fell to the bridge deck. Due to the short circuit of the wire joint of the 2# cable-stayed lighting line, it caused fire, deformation and quenching.
The report stated that the bridge was constructed by China Communications Construction Company Second Highway Engineering Bureau Co., Ltd. After the incident, the bridge resumed normal traffic until 0:00 on the 6th.
Public information shows that the last set of cable stays of the Hutuo River Bridge was installed on September 7 this year, and the bridge was only opened to traffic on September 28 this year. The bridge is said to be a key control project of the Fuxing Street Municipalization Renovation Project. It has a total length of approximately 2,208 meters and a total height of the main tower of 146.5 meters.
