Xinhua News Agency, Shenzhen, May 25 (Reporter Liang Xizhi) On May 25, 2023, the 29th China-ASEAN Senior Officials Consultation was held in Shenzhen, Guangdong. The Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs Nong Rong and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Myanmar co-chaired the meeting. Senior officials or representatives of senior officials from other ASEAN countries and representatives of the ASEAN Secretariat attended the meeting. Timor-Leste attended the meeting as an observer of ASEAN.
Nong Rong emphasized that this year marks the 10th anniversary of President Xi Jinping’s proposal to build a closer China-ASEAN community of shared future, and it is also the 20th anniversary of China’s accession to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia. At present, China is promoting the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation in an all-round way with Chinese-style modernization. It is willing to uphold the spirit of mutual benefit and win-win cooperation with ASEAN countries to jointly build the “five homes” of China-ASEAN peace, tranquility, prosperity, beauty and friendship. In emerging industries, new energy, Explore new opportunities for development and cooperation in fields such as currency and finance, traditional and non-traditional security, and people-to-people and cultural exchanges. Promote the synergy between global development initiatives, global security initiatives, and global civilization initiatives and the construction of the ASEAN community, and strive to build a closer China-ASEAN community of shared future.
ASEAN countries spoke highly of China’s economic and social development achievements and looked forward to sharing the new opportunities brought by Chinese-style modernization. Continuously deepen cooperation in the field, and tap the potential of cooperation between the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and ASEAN. Strengthen dialogue and cooperation in traditional and non-traditional security fields, accelerate consultations on the “Code of Conduct in the South China Sea”, jointly promote greater development of China-ASEAN comprehensive strategic partnership, and promote regional peace, stability and prosperity.
