U.S. stocks rise; Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.17% at close By Investing.com

Investing.com – U.S. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the , and sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in New York, it rose 0.17% to hit a new one-month high, while the index climbed 0.28%, while the index gained 0.90%.

The best performers of the session were Intel Corporation (NASDAQ: ), which rose 2.16% or 0.82 points to trade at 38.77 at the close. Meanwhile, Salesforce Inc (NYSE: ) added 2.13% (4.42 points) to end at 211.84 and Nike (NYSE: ) added 1.97% (2.11 points) to 109.36 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Chevron Corporation (NYSE: ), which fell 1.76% or 2.59 points to trade at 144.41 at the close. Dow Chemical Company (NYSE: ) fell 1.64% (0.81 points) to end at 48.53; Caterpillar Inc (NYSE: ) fell 1.41% (3.36 points) to 234.92.

The best performing stocks on the S&P 500 were Gen Digital Inc (NASDAQ:), which rose 8.48% to close at 18.93; Expedia (NASDAQ:) rose 5.79% to close at 118.05; Match Group Inc ( NASDAQ: ) rose 5.41% to close at 29.99.

The worst-performing stocks, Air Products Co. (NYSE:), ultimately fell 12.65% to close at 254.46 in late trading; Emerson Electric (NYSE:) fell 7.41%, closing at 84.94; in addition, Schlumberger (NYSE:) ) fell 5.58% to close at 53.33.

The top performers on the Nasdaq Composite were Cardio Diagnostics Holdings Inc (NASDAQ: ), which rose 102.94% to end at 1.38; Senti Biosciences Inc (NASDAQ: ), which rose 78.08% to close at 0.52; Jaguar Global Growth Corporation I (NASDAQ:) rose 69.64% to close at 9.50.

The worst performing stocks were Ventyx Biosciences Inc (NASDAQ:) which ultimately fell 80.62% to close at 2.73 in late trade; Worldwide Webb Acquisition Corp (NASDAQ:) fell 63.90% to close at 2.65; in addition, Alto Ingredients Inc (NASDAQ:) fell 60.73%, closing price is 1.93.

1,695 stocks on the New York Stock Exchange fell, exceeding the number of stocks that closed higher – 1,226. At the same time, 64 stocks did not rise or fall, basically the same; 1,818 stocks on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange closed down, and 1,640 stocks rose. The price of the gold futures December options contract fell 0.67% (13.25 points) to $1,975.35. For the rest of the futures, the price of WTI crude oil futures contract for December delivery fell by 4.15% (3.35 points), quoted at $77.47, while the January London Brent crude oil futures contract fell by 3.99% (3.40), trading at $81.78.

EUR/USD did not rise or fall by 0.14%, with an exchange rate of 1.07; at the same time, USD/JPY rose by 0.21%, with a quotation of 150.38.

U.S. dollar index futures rose 0.30% to trade at 105.36.
