U.S. stocks rise; Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.10% at close By Investing.com

Investing.com – U.S. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the , and sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in New York, it gained 0.10%, hitting a new high in nearly one month, while the index climbed 0.18%, while the index rose 0.30%.

The best performers of the session were Apple Inc (NASDAQ: ), which rose 1.46% or 2.58 points to trade at 179.23 at the close. Meanwhile, Amgen (NASDAQ: ) added 1.10% (2.97 points) to end at 272.83; Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ: ) added 1.06% (3.73 points) to 356.53 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Walgreens Boots Alliance (NASDAQ:), which fell 1.54% or 0.34 points to trade at 21.77 at the close. The Walt Disney Company (NYSE: ) fell 1.23% or 1.05 points to end at 84.02; Goldman Sachs Group Inc (NYSE: ) fell 1.13% or 3.71 points to 323.91.

The top performers on the S&P 500 were Constellation Energy Corp (NASDAQ: ), which rose 6.54% to close at 124.73; Eli Lilly and Company (NYSE: ) rose 4.82% to close at 595.19; Dominion Energy Corp (NYSE: ) It rose 4.54% and closed at 45.59.

The worst-performing stocks, Paramount Global Class B (NASDAQ:), eventually fell 7.78% to close at 12.69 in late trading; Moderna Inc (NASDAQ:) fell 7.04%, closing at 72.07; in addition, Albemarle Corporation (NYSE:) fell 6.66%, with a closing price of 119.46.

The top performers on the Nasdaq Composite were MSP Recovery Inc (NASDAQ:), which rose 252.19% to close at 9.65; Cardio Diagnostics Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:), which rose 81.62% to close at 0.68; Tenon Medical Inc (NASDAQ:) rose 57.48% to close at 2.00.

The worst performing stocks were Novo Integrated Sciences Inc (NASDAQ:) which eventually fell 59.50% to close at 0.12 in late trade; Wheeler Real Estate Investment Trust Inc (NASDAQ:) fell 43.02% to close at 0.29; in addition, DISH Network Corp. ( NASDAQ:) fell 37.43% to close at 3.43.

2,052 stocks on the New York Stock Exchange fell, exceeding the number of stocks that closed higher – 842. At the same time, 82 stocks did not rise or fall, basically the same; 2,194 stocks on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange closed down, and 1,265 stocks rose. Implied volatility, a measure of S&P 500 options, fell 0.13% to 14.89, hitting a new low in nearly a month.

The price of the gold futures December options contract fell 0.74% (14.75 points) to $1,984.45. For the rest of the futures, the price of WTI crude oil futures contract for December delivery rose 0.41% (0.33 points) to quote $80.84, while the January London Brent crude oil futures contract rose 0.34% (0.29) to trade at $85.18.

EUR/USD did not rise or fall by 0.11%, with an exchange rate of 1.07; at the same time, USD/JPY rose by 0.46%, with a quotation of 150.05.

U.S. dollar index futures rose 0.24% to trade at 105.11.
